Ireland is very low down the list of European countries where it’s easiest to find a new job

Carl Kinsella

It doesn’t look too good for us.

A study conducted by Glassdoor Economic Research has revealed that Ireland is one of the worst countries in Europe for people seeking a new job.

Of the 16 countries included in Glassdoor’s research, Ireland finished twelfth, ahead of only Spain, Greece, Portugal and Italy.

While Ireland’s unemployment rate is at its lowest point in seven years, many people chalk this up to things like poorly paid JobBridge internships. Youth unemployment is also notably more prevalent in Ireland than unemployment in general.

The research took into account such factors as unemployment rates, involuntary part-time work and the employment gap, which compares current employment rates to pre-crisis ones.

Here is the list in full:

16. Spain
15. Greece
14. Portugal
13. Italy
12. Ireland
11. France
10. Netherlands
9. Finland
8. Belgium
7. Switzerland
6. Germany
5. Denmark
4. Austria
3. UK
2. Norway
1. Estonia
