Homenews

Met Éireann has said there could be some flooding.

Three counties in Ireland have been issued a Status Yellow rain warning for this weekend.

Valid from 2pm on Sunday (30 November) until 9am on Monday (1 December), the alert from Met Éireann applies to Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

It reads: "Persistent rain, heavy at times.

"Possible impacts: Difficult travel conditions, localised flooding."

The warning comes as temperatures are set to dip below zero on Saturday night (29 November).

Met Éireann's national forecast for the rest of the weekend states:

Saturday night

"A cold and mostly clear night with some showers, mainly in the north and west early in the night.

"Frost and possibly some ice will form in places with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees.

"Light westerly or variable breezes will allow mist and fog patches to develop."

Sunday

"Predominantly dry and bright tomorrow morning with just isolated showers.

"However, cloud will build from the west with rain following into the west and southwest in the early afternoon, extending eastwards to all areas by early evening as southerly winds increase fresh to strong.

"Highest afternoon temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees"

National Overview

Met Éireann's national overview for Sunday night and next week, meanwhile, predicts "changeable conditions".

The forecaster adds: "Rain at first before turning largely dry away from Atlantic coastal counties for a time, before further rain and showers follow later in the week."
