Met Éireann has issued two Status Yellow warnings affecting six counties in Ireland.
One is a wind warning, valid from 11am to 5pm on Friday (5 December). It applies to Dublin, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
The alert reads: "Strong to gale force and gusty southeasterly winds
"Potential Impacts: Difficult travelling conditions, debris, loose objects displaced."
The second is a rain warning and applies to Cork and Kerry.
Already in effect and set to last until 9am on Saturday, it reads: "Rainfall accumulations from heavy showers or longer spells of rain
"Possible impacts: localised flooding, poor visibility, difficult travelling conditions."
Carlow Weather, meanwhile, said of the weather on Thursday night: "Reminder tomorrow, Friday, will turn very wet and windy, strongest gusts in Southeast coastal areas.
"Big concern over coastal flooding early Saturday morning in the Southwest with high spring tides and onshore winds after heavy rain."
In a follow-up post on X, he added: "The rain has arrived, and over 30mm will fall in parts of [the] Southwest over [the] next 24 hours.
"Wind warning updated to include Dublin today with the strongest gusts this afternoon."
He has also said there is a possibility of a storm from Monday night into Tuesday, though there is still "huge uncertainty on the weather models".
