Passengers travelling on a series of specific dates in July are most likely to be affected.

Thousands of passengers could be facing their holiday this summer being heavily affected or cancelled outright in light of a number of ferry sailings which are set to be cancelled in July.

In a report by Niamh Nolan (via RTE), a statement by Irish Ferries claims that they have contacted customers to inform them that their new ship, the WB Yeats, may not yet have been delivered to the company.

While the delay of the new ship has not yet been 100% confirmed, the company stated that they made the decision to cancel these specific sailing so as to minimise the overall level of disruption to their customers.

Due to this, customers who had been set to travel on the ship from Thursday 12 July to Sunday 29 July have had their sailings cancelled, as well as being offered a €150 voucher as a goodwill gesture towards future any future sailing with the company.

An Irish Ferries spokesperson told RTÉ News that the delayed arrival of the WB Yeats ship is a set-back but it is confident it can accommodate booked passengers during the July period on sailings from Rosslare aboard the Oscar Wilde.

The Oscar Wilde ship has areas blocked off for affected customers, but if those spaces are not available, the company will offer a full refund.
