The Irish woman died in the tragic accident on Wednesday
An Irish woman has tragically passed away in a drowning accident in Sardinia, Italy.
According to reports, the woman was swept out to sea on the evening of September 11th.
Officials confirmed a body was removed from the water of the village of Portu Maga.
Italian Fire officials said the deceased was an Irish woman in her 60s.

A search operation was launched after the woman was swept out to sea.
An official at Sardinia Fire Service said a helicopter was deployed to assist with the search.
Specialist divers also assisted with the operation, but it was too late to save the Irish national.
However, the woman died from drowning and officials recovered her body from the water.
The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed they’re aware of the case and are providing consular assistance following her untimely death.
They stated: “As with all consular cases, the department does not comment on the detail of individual cases.”
The Irish woman has not yet been named but we’re keeping her loved ones in our thoughts during this harrowing time.
