Kevin Mallon, director of THG sports, has been released on bail from Bangu maximum security prison – where Pat Hickey is also being held.
Mallon had controversially been arrested during the Rio Olympics when found in possession of hundreds of tickets for the games. THG was not a licensed distributor of Olympics tickets. Hickey, the president of the Olympics Council of Ireland, has also been arrested in connection with the scandal.
RTÉ has reported that Mallon is set to be released on bail later today. Pat Hickey’s bail request has been denied.
THG has welcomed the decision to release Mallon from prison in a public statement, writing that “THG… believes that the company and its executives will be vindicated when all of the evidence is reviewed.”
