Howdy, partner.
That’s right, The Late Late Show’s Country Music Special returns this Friday night (4 October).
And this year’s edition has pledged to bring together the “biggest and brightest stars on the Irish country music scene” so that there is something to enjoy for both the “newest of country music fans to the oldest”.
As part of this – Lisa McHugh, Lee Matthews, Cliona Hagan and Sandy Kelly will showcase a host of tunes from chart topping hits to some old familiar classics.
The Late Late Special will also remember the legendary country singer and songwriter Kris Kristofferson, who passed away earlier this week.
Daniel O’Donnell and Eastenders star turned country singer Shona McGarty will pay tribute to the ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ singer.
Queens of country Philomena Begley, Susan McCann and Margo will also sit down for a chat with host Patrick Kielty, while Derek Ryan and The Kilfenora Céilí Band promise to have “viewers bopping in their seats”.
The special will also see Kielty invite Janet Devlin, Garron Noone, Margo and Mike Denver on the show to play the game Wild West Roulette while father and daughter, Jimmy and Claudia Buckley, will perform a duet.
As well, Michael English and friends Chantelle Padden, Clodagh Lawlor and David James will join together to celebrate country songs much loved the world over.
“On the night, another star will be inducted into The Late Late Show Country Music Hall of Fame,” RTÉ’s statement reads.
“Also, there is a huge surprise for one unsuspecting Irish country fan…”
The Late Late Show Country Music Special is airing on RTÉ One tonight at 9.35pm.
