
Man charged following fatal assault in Limerick
He is due to appear in court this afternoon.
Gardaí investigating a fatal assault that occurred last week at Parnell Street in Limerick have charged one man.
An Garda Síochána attended the scene of the assault at around 10.25pm on Friday, 15 April where 48-year-old Alan Bourke was discovered with serious injuries.
He was taken from the scene to University Hospital Limerick to be treated before he later died.
On Saturday afternoon (23 April), a man in his 30s was charged in connection with the fatal assault.
He is due to appear before a special sitting of Ennis District Court on Saturday at 5pm.
Two men were arrested in connection with the fatal assault on Friday.
The other man, also in his 30s, remains detained in Henry Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
