A man has died following a road traffic collision in Cork

Very sad news.

A man has died following a collision between a truck and a car in Cork.

At approximately 7am on Monday, Gardaí, Ambulance Services and local Fire Services attended the scene of the serious collision involving a car and a rigid truck.

The accident occurred on the N20 Cork-Limerick road at New Twopothouse, on the outskirts of Mallow.

The driver of the car, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the truck was uninjured.

The scene is currently preserved and Garda forensic collision investigators have been requested to examine the crash site. Diversions are in place and are expected to remain in place for the rest of the day.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are also appealing to those with dash cam footage to make it available to investigators.
