Tributes pour in for popular Galway man after tragic death

Gardai have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

A man who was found dead at home following an unreported crash has been named.

Brian Bermingham, who was in his 30s, was involved in a collision on the L4102, a minor road at Slievaun, Clarinbridge, shortly after 9:15am on Thursday, 9th January.

Mr Bermingham was subsequently found dead at his home in Clarinbridge, Co. Galway, the following day.

Following the post-mortem, Gardaí commenced a Fatal Traffic Collision investigation.

Bermingham ran The Porterhouse pub in Oranmore which has temporarily closed as a mark of respect.

Posting on Facebook, The Porterhouse wrote: “Dear Customers. We regret to inform you that due to a family bereavement, we will be closing temporarily from Today.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time, and we appreciate your understanding and support. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Thank you for your patience.”

Many pub-goers have since posted their own tributes to Bermingham in the comment section.

One person wrote: “I am so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing, myself and my family have often had dinner there and he was always so lovely to us and looked after us so well .. Heartbreaking loss for all the porter house family as well as the Oranmore community.”

Another wrote: “My heart is broken for you Alan and your family as well as the the staff. Brian was a HUGE part of the Oranmore Community… he brought an unbelievable amount of of Love and kindness to All he knew. Brian will be missed beyond measure. Most Deepest and Sincere Condolences.”

While a third commented: “Deepest condolences to all his family and friends. He was a true gentleman and will be missed greatly in Oranmore. Rest in peace Brian.”

Gardaí investigating Thursday’s fatal collision are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. They are also urging motorists with dash-cam or video footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact them.
