Met Éireann issue an updated weather forecast for St. Patrick’s Day

Rain

Fairly mixed.

Given the recent weather warnings that have been issued, it should come as no surprise that the conditions have been somewhat erratic over the coming days and St. Patrick’s Day looks set to follow suit.

Earlier this week, Met Éireann issued their first indications about the weather for St. Patrick’s Day and they’ve updated that closer to the date itself.

They predict that St. Patrick’s Day will be a fairly cold day with bright or sunny spells and a few scattered showers.

However, these showers will become more widespread in the afternoon with a few turning heavy, especially in parts of Connacht and Munster.

Winds will turn gusty in the west and southwest where heavy showers are also being predicted. Thankfully, these showers should retreat to Atlantic coastal areas on Sunday night with good clear spells set to develop.

As for Saturday night, it’s set to be chilly with a mix of clear spells and scattered showers.

The showers will be a mix of rain, hail and sleet, however there’s a chance of some snow, especially in parts of Ulster, Connacht and Munster but with limited accumulations.

Elsewhere on Saturday night, these areas could see a few showers and a risk of thunder. Lowest temperatures between -1 and +3 degrees, with some frost and a risk of icy roads.
