Met Éireann issue more severe warning for majority of Ireland tonight as temperatures plummet

Weather

Another day, another weather warning…

While we are just about getting over the Status Yellow weather warning that they issued for last night and this morning, Met Éireann have issued another, but under the more severe Status Orange.

As per their statement:

Low Temperature Warning for Munster, inland areas of Leinster, Connacht, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan.

Turning very cold tonight with lowest temperatures falling between -4 and -6 degrees away from southern and eastern coasts.

The warning was issued at 1pm today, and the low temperatures are said to arrive around 9pm tonight, and will remain in effect until 10am Monday morning.

While this isn’t anywhere near as bad as what the folks in the U.S. are currently going through (yes, that does say -73 degrees!), they did report the lowest temperatures in the country last night, with the lowest recorded in County Sligo dipping as passed -11 degrees.
