Weather warning

Take note.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for six counties.

The warning affects Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick and is valid from 3pm on Wednesday until 1am on Thursday morning.

Met Éireann said southwest to west winds veering northwest will reach mean speed of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.

The combination of strong winds coupled with high tides will bring an increased risk of flooding in coastal areas.

On Wednesday, showers spreading from the west may be heavy or prolonged in the afternoon with a risk of hail and some localised flooding.

Overnight it will be wet and windy with showers or longer spells of rain while there will be strong to gale force and gusty southwest winds veering northwest.

The rain on Thursday will become increasingly isolated and the day will start out relatively bright.

However, some cloud will extend from the Atlantic in the afternoon bringing outbreaks or rain and drizzle, these will spread nationwide Thursday night.
