Be careful out there…

Is it just us, or is it ever since they started naming storms, they’ve become a lot more common in this country?

This week, we’re going to see Storm Fionn arriving and battering us with its strong winds.

As a result, Met Éireann have issued a status orange wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry.

They’ve warned that on Tuesday evening and early on Tuesday night, Storm Fionn will bring very strong westerly winds to Atlantic coastal counties with mean wind speeds of 65 to 80 km/h and gusts of up to 120 km/hr, strongest near coasts with a risk of flooding.

There’s also a status yellow wind warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

On top of this, there’s still a weather advisory for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

The yellow advisory warns of an increased risk of flooding in coastal areas due to high or very high seas in the Atlantic Seaboard.

The advisory is in place from 9pm on Monday until 9am on Thursday.
