There were wild scenes in the Dáil on Wednesday…

Michael Healy-Rae has spoken out about the argument in the Dáil on Wednesday which led to the session being suspended for a short time.

While Healy-Rae refused to discuss the actions of Fianna Fáil’s Marc MacSharry while the FF deputy was not present he did make a small statement on the subject on The Tonight Show on TV3.

“What I will allow myself to say,” Healy Rae said, “Is that I was proven right in that when the Dáil resumed, the first person that the Leas Ceann Comhairle called to speak was myself, and why did he do that?

“I was within order in what I was doing. I did nothing wrong. Another person chose to heckle me and try and quieten me down.”

Matt Cooper responded by saying, “He called you Ban Ki Moon Healy-Rae, and he called Mattie McGrath Kofi Annan McGrath.”

Dismissing it, Healy-Rae responded, “I’ve been called a lot things over the years and it really doesn’t bother me in the slightest.”

On Wednesday in the Dáil, Leas Ceann Comhairle Pat the Cope Gallagher was forced to put a stop to proceedings when Deputies Danny Healy-Rae, Michael Healy-Rae and Fianna Fáil’s Marc MacSharry all found themselves in a very heated debate.

Things began to spiral out when Deputy Danny Healy Rae raised the issue of farmers being given no payment after commonages were burned, and asked that Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to intervene on the matter.

This caused a heated dispute between the Healy-Rae brothers and MacSharry.
