A comment by US Vice President Mike Pence about Irish people on Twitter did not go down well

Chris O’Dowd was amongst those to respond to Donald Trump’s second-in-command.

On the week of our national holiday, Ireland is going to be the subject of a lot of praise and fawning comments from world dignitaries over the coming days. On a night in which he was one of the special guests at the Ireland Funds dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, US vice president Mike Pence, whose grandfather hails from Sligo, sought to commend the “special kinship” between the Irish and the American people.
