Motorcyclist in his 60s dies following crash in Louth

Tragic news.

A man has died following a traffic collision in Louth on Sunday (17 July).

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the R173 between Carlingford and Omeath at approximately 3.30pm.

The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Louth County Hospital Dundalk where a post-mortem is set to take place at a later date.

The road was closed following the collision with local diversions in place. A technical examination of the scene will be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time with camera footage, including dash cam, is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
