Nine people arrested following €640,000 drugs seizure

Nine people have been arrested in Dublin and Wexford following the seizure of €640,000 worth of drugs in the capital.

The searches were carried out on Saturday as part of an intelligence led operation targeting an organised crime group involved in the supply of controlled drugs.

Gardaí from the South Eastern Region and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau carried out a number of searches in Dublin and Wexford as part of the operation.

When Gardaí searched a commercial premises in the north inner city area of Dublin, a cannabis cultivation unit was discovered and 800 cannabis plants in various stages of growth were seized.

As part of the operation, searches were also carried out in Wexford and in total nine people were arrested.

Those arrested were six Portuguese men, one British man and a man and woman from Ireland.

They ranged between 17 and 45 years of age and are being held at Garda stations in Wexford and Dublin.
