Very sad news.

A shooting at a Brooklyn park has reportedly killed one man and left 11 more people injured on Saturday night, the New York Police Department said.

The gunfire broke out at an event in Brownsville, a neighbourhood in east Brooklyn and the victims were transported to local hospitals.

A New York City police spokesman said that 12 people had been shot, including a 38-year-old man who was pronounced dead on arrival to the hospital.

No arrests have been made, and police did not offer any details about possible suspects.

Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted early Sunday that the shooting in the east Brooklyn neighborhood of Brownsville “shattered a peaceful neighborhood event.”

“Our hearts go out to the victims. We will do everything in our power to keep this community safe and get guns off our streets,” he tweeted.
