One more person with Covid-19 has died, 17 new confirmed cases

The public have once again been urged to limit social activities and socially distance from friends and loved ones.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has reported that one person with Covid-19 has died.

There has now been a total of 1,754 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

The HPSC has been notified of 17 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland bringing the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak to 25,819.

The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.

Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “I appreciate how difficult it is for people to limit their social activities and to physically distance from friends and loved ones.

“These actions are vital to our collective effort to suppress this highly infectious disease as we work towards reopening our schools and our healthcare services, and to protect our healthcare workers who have been at the frontline of this pandemic over the past six months.”

33 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Ireland on Tuesday.

For the ninth consecutive day in Northern Ireland, there were no recorded deaths from Covid-19.

Nine new cases of the disease were reported by the Department of Health on Wednesday, taking the total to 5,868.

There have been a total of 556 reported deaths from Covid-19 in the north.
