Spectacular if you’re looking at from behind a window, bloody scary if you happened to be outside.
Ireland has been blessed with very good weather for the best part of the last few months so it was inevitable that the bad weather would hit at some stage and it has hit hard the last couple of days.
Cork, for example, has been hit with floods and some lightning already this week and yesterday evening, Kilkenny was amongst the places to get the worst of it as lightning struck in various parts of the county, including in Piltown, where JOE reader James Conway snapped this spectacular scene.

Areas of the county, as well as parts of Cork and Wexford, were left without power last night and while the forecast is for clearer spells today, the weekend ain’t going to be great we’re afraid.
Ah well, ’twas good while it lasted.
