Pic: Yes, that’s Sandor Clegane (The Hound) from Game of Thrones on a Labour election poster

The election is coming and if The Hound wants us to vote for him, then there’s no way in hell we’re going to argue with him.

The election is coming and if The Hound wants us to vote for him, then there’s no way in hell we’re going to argue with him.

With the Irish electorate set to hit the ballot boxes tomorrow and word on the grapevine that a significant number of Irish voters are leaning towards casting a protest vote, the mood is obviously ripe for the introduction of tough and uncompromising characters in Irish politics.

Characters don’t come much tougher or more uncompromising than Sandor ‘The Hound’ Clegane, one of the most dangerous men in Westeros and whose mood is constantly set to ‘pissed off’ thanks to his general disdain for things like his brother, fire and knighthood. And don’t even get him started on chicken.

Sandor doesn’t seem like the political sort but if he was to stand for any party, it would be Labour and we know this because of a recent episode of Game of Thrones in which he accepts an offer of ‘fair wages for fair work’ from a generous farmer before *MINOR SPOILER ALERT* assaulting the farmer and stealing his money before continuing on what has become a pretty interesting adventure with his captive, Arya Stark.

Using the line as a campaign motto, a creative soul (reported to be one Shane Moloney) in this country has photoshopped an image of Clegane into a suit and tie and onto Labour election posters which have been spotted in the paddocks in Adamstown, Lucan in recent days.

He gets our vote.

Hat-tip to Neil Smith for sending this one our way
