Several flights were subsequently delayed as a result.
It's been a bit of a surreal Saturday for Cork Airport, following the discovery of an exotic animal on the grounds.
Photos of a ring-tailed coati, a creature native to the jungles of South America, were shared by the airport's official social media accounts.
A spokesperson for the airport took to social media to explain that the animal had previously been spotted in Ballygarvan, before making its way to the airport itself.
A later update noted that the animal had been successfully retrieved.
