Man recovering from serious head injuries after assault in Dublin city centre

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.

Gardaí based at Pearse Street Station in Dublin are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault incident that took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning (23 July).

The incident occurred on South Great Georges Street at approximately 2.45am.

While on patrol, Gardaí discovered a man in his 20s with serious head injuries.

He was taken to St James Hospital for treatment, with his injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

An individual aged in his late teens was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Pearse Street Garda Station.

The scene at South Great Georges Street was preserved for a technical examination as Gardaí continue their investigations.
