PICS: ‘Beast From The East’ has already turned mainland Europe into a winter wonderland

Pretty. But cold. So… pretty cold.

While we wait for the arrival of the Beast Of The East in Ireland – last we heard, it will kick in at one minute after minute on Tuesday morning – the rest of Europe has already been feeling the effects of the Siberian winds.

Met Éireann has issued a status orange weather warning with snow and ice set to hit the east of the country in the coming days.

Scattered snow showers are expected in Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Louth, Wicklow and Meath on Tuesday, leading to accumulations of 4 – 6 centimetres by Wednesday morning.

People are advised to prepare for widespread frost and icy conditions, as emergency services and outreach groups looking to protect the more vulnerable members of society.

However, parts of Europe have seen their Instagram game get a natural boost, as Rome gets snow for the first time since 2012, and Croatian army had to send out the army to clear roads and make them passable for drivers.
