Snow expected over coming days as winter weather advisory issued for entire country

Met Éireann has issued a new winter weather advisory for Ireland which states that some showers of snow are expected over the coming days.

Issued on Friday afternoon (13 January), the alert is now in effect and is set to last until midday next Thursday.

“Turning cold across the country between Sunday evening and Thursday morning as an Arctic airflow becomes established, bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads and footpaths,” it reads.

“Some showers of hail, sleet and snow are expected with the potential for freezing fog.”

Turning cold nationwide from this Sunday evening through to Thursday morning, next week 📉

Met Éireann added that further updates to the advisory and warnings are expected to be published in the following days.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow wind warning for Donegal is set to take effect from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday.

“Westerly winds will be very strong and gusty, especially near coasts and on high ground,” it reads.
