Be careful on the roads once the weekend is over.

We knew we were due some more bad January weather, but now it is officially bad enough to warrant getting our attention.

As per the Met Eireann weather warning:

Snow-ice Warning for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

Falls of snow from Monday evening, with accumulations totalling up to 3cm possible in some areas, leading to treacherous road conditions by Tuesday morning.

The warning is set to kick in from 6pm on Monday evening and will remain in place until 6am on Tuesday morning.

Things don’t look to be getting any better later in the week either, as Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to bring sleet and snow with them, while Thursday and Friday coming with the warning of “severe and widespread night frosts that will be sharp and extensive.”

Lovely.

So we should probably expect that national weather warning to be extended beyond Tuesday before too long.
