Another person was severely injured in the incident.

A British man has died and a second has been seriously injured after they fell 40ft while taking a selfie at a popular location on Spain’s Costa Blanca.

The pair, aged in their 20s, were trying to take a photograph near a set of steps that leads to Punta Prima beach, near the town of Torrevieja.

The Evening Standard reports that the men fell 40ft and landed on a nearby lifeguard hut.

Sadly, one of them died at the scene.

The injured man was airlifted to Alicante Hospital and his injuries are being described as severe.

“It appears the men were taking a photo. The initial reports were that they had fallen from a height of around 40 feet” said a Civil Guard source.

A third man who was with the pair was not physically injured but he was taken to Torrevieja Hospital after suffering a severe panic attack.
