Take note if you’re out and about.

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Cork and Kerry.

The warning was issued last night and it’s valid from from 12:00 on Wednesday, 16 January until 17:00 on the same day.

The warning states that: “West to Northwest winds will reach mean speed between 50 and 65km/h with gusts up to 90km/h. Winds strongest along coasts.”

With regards to this week’s forecast, today is expected to be another chilly day with a mix of sunshine and showers.

The rain is set to start in the western half of the country but it will become widespread throughout the afternoon and evening.

There’s also the risk of hail and thunder in areas that have a higher altitude. If you’re living in a costal region, take note because this afternoon is set to see very strong and gusty conditions in the southwest with gales on exposed coasts.

As for tomorrow, it’s set to be another cold day but dry in most areas with a good deal of sunshine.
