Status Yellow wind warnings issued for eight counties

Met Éireann has issued two separate Status Yellow warnings, with strong winds set to dominate an especially breezy Halloween. The first warning concerns the entirety of Munster, with Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford set for a gusty morning and afternoon. The warning, valid until 2pm on Sunday (31 October), will see west to northwest winds reaching mean speeds of up to 65 kilometres per hour, with gusts of up to 90 – 110 kilometres per hour and higher gusts found along coasts and exposed hills. The second warning concerns Galway and Mayo, with the exact same conditions expected. The Status Orange gale warning stretches from Mizen Head to Loop Head to Rossan Point, with Met Éireann forecasting northwesterly gales or strong gales that will occasionally reach storm force 10. That warning is valid until 6pm on Sunday. A Status Yellow gale warning is in effect until 11pm, ranging from Wicklow Head to Hook Head to Mizen Head and on the Irish Sea, south of Anglesey. Finally, a Status Yellow gale warning is also in place from Rossan Point to Belfast Lough to Wicklow Head and on the Irish Sea, north of Anglesey. That warning is valid from 6pm on Sunday evening until 9am on Monday morning.
