Taxi fares are increasing today after this slight rise in price

You'll need a bit of extra cash in your pocket

You’ll need a bit of extra cash in your pocket.

If you slept in this morning and are in desperate need of a taxi to beat your boss into work then you’re going to need a bit more cash.

For the first time since 2008, taxi fares have increased by a 4% margin as two standardised fare brackets, A and B, have been introduced.

What this means is that regular fares will show a very slight increase of a few cent while the charge per kilometre will rise from €1.03 to €1.10.

The charge for any journey that’s over 15 kilometre will also rise from €1.45 to €1.75 but any booking fees or charges for additional carried passengers will remain the same.

It’s not all bad news though as the standard rate charge, between 8am and 8pm, has been reduced to €3.60 from €4.10 while premium rates, on Sundays and Bank Holidays will be set at €4.
