Teenage girl dies after drowning at north Dublin beach

Homenews

Gardaí have confirmed that the girl drowned in the sea off the north Dublin coast on Sunday evening

According to The Independent, the spokesperson stated:

“The body of a female juvenile teen was removed from the water at Burrow Beach by the Coast Guard. The body has been removed from the scene."

Burrow Beach is a popular summer and weekend spot north of Howth and close to Sutton Village.

Speaking to The Irish Independent, Fianna Fail Councillor Cathal Haughey confirmed that the area was incredibly busy yesterday, and added that many visitors travelled to Burrow Beach by train.

"It is always busy on a sunny weekend, and Sunday was no different. Everyone in Howth and Sutton was enjoying the sunny weather, and then the Coast Guard helicopter came, and unfortunately, we have learned since that the life of a girl had been lost."

“It just goes to show how quickly things can turn, and in this case, there has been a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the girl’s family and friends," the local councillor continued.

No further information has been released at this time.
