Tragic news…
A 17-year-old male has died following a suspected drowning incident at Tarmonbarry on the Roscommon and Longford border.
The alarm was raised shortly before 5pm this evening when the youth got into difficulty while swimming at the marina at Harbour View.
His body was recovered from the water a short time later.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been removed to the mortuary at Roscommon Hospital.
Gardaí, emergency services along with members of local sub aqua clubs assisted at the scene.
