Weather warning

A mixed bag…

The warm weather is returning this week, but unfortunately, it won’t be shorts and t-shirt weather for the majority of the time.

Temperatures on Wednesday look set to reach a toasty 22 degrees in some places, but Met Éireann have promised that it will fairly cloudy in places with some patches of drizzle, mist and fog.

There will be some patches of sunshine, especially in Munster and Leinster, but later in the day some heavy showers will break out in these places.

Monday night looks set to be misty and cloudy. There will be scattered heavy showers early tonight and then, later tonight, outbreaks of rain and drizzle that will affect Ulster, Connacht and west Munster.

It looks set to be markedly different from the recent warm spell we had in this country, with it being far more unsettled.

It will be a damp start to Thursday, but the drizzle and light rain should become largely confined to Atlantic coastal areas by the afternoon. There will still be some patches of lingering fog along parts of the south and southeast coasts, but some brief sunny spells then developing locally, mainly over east Munster, east Ulster and Leinster. It will be warm and humid during the day.

Friday will initially be dry with bright periods in the morning, best over the Midlands and east of the country, but occasional patches of drizzle will affect Atlantic coasts from early on and by early afternoon are likely to turn into persistent rain.

This rain will spread over the rest of the country by the evening.

Saturday and Sunday will be fresher days with top temperatures in the mid to high teens, at best, both days. Saturday will be the dryer of the two days with Sunday giving way to more cloudy weather.
