Farewell to a Dublin institution.
The Living Room, one of the most famous bars in Dublin city centre, has announced that it will close on Monday, 6 January.
Located just off O’Connell Street on Cathal Brugha Street, the pub was renowned for its beer garden – where patrons often gathered to watch major sporting events on a large screen.
In a social media statement, the team behind the sports bar said that, though The Living Room is closing, “this is not the end of the story”.
“There is exciting news to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you soon,” the team added.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Living Room, our beloved sports bar located in the heart of Dublin. For years, our venue has been a gathering place for friends, families, and fans from all walks of life who have come together to share unforgettable moments, celebrating major sporting events and life’s milestones together.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our loyal patrons and dedicated staff, who have supported us throughout this incredible journey. The Living Room was more than just a venue, it was a place where memories were made, cheers were shared, and a love for sports brought us all together.
“The Living Room will officially close its doors on Monday, the 6th of January. While this chapter comes to an end, this is not the end of the story. There is exciting news to come, and we can’t wait to share it with you soon.
“We would like to welcome you all to come join us one last time this weekend and share a final drink with us before we close our doors.
“With heartfelt thanks & love, The Living Room Team.”
The announcement comes just weeks after one of Ireland’s best cinemas – the Pálás in Galway – revealed it will close its doors at the end of February this year.
