Three children under the age of two airlifted to hospital following fire in Cork

They are currently recovering in Cork University Hospital.

A set of five-month old twins and a one-year old boy were airlifted to hospital in Cork this evening after a fire at their house in Cork.

According to RTÉ, the fire is believed to have broken out after a petrol canister exploded at a house in Drinagh, West Cork at approximately 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.

The three children are said to have suffered burns to their bodies and were treated at the scene before being airlifted by helicopter to Cork University Hospital.

The operation was coordinated by Valentia Coast Guard Station and the children’s parents were with them on the flight.

All three are being treated at Cork University Hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
