A great achievement.
As a nation we have quite a strong history when it comes to writers.
James Joyce, Oscar Wilde and W.B. Yeats are just a few of the literary geniuses to come from this country.
And by the looks of it, that skill isn’t leaving our genetic make-up anytime soon.
Three Irish authors have been nominated for the prestigious Man Booker Prize.
The Man Booker Prize is an award that is normally given to the best original novel written in the English language and published in the UK.
But for the first time this year, the award will allow books published in Ireland to be eligible for the award.
The three Irish authors nominated are as follows:
Sally Rooney – Normal People
Anna Burns – Milkman
Donal Ryan – From a Low and Quiet Sea
The winner of the prize will also win £50,000. Not too shabby…
Sally Rooney took to Twitter to voice her happiness at being nominated for the award.
