weather in Ireland this week

Take note.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow thunder warning for all of Ireland.

The warning was issued at 1pm on Wednesday and is valid from 4pm on Thursday until 9am on Friday.

Met Éireann warned that heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop later on Thursday and into Thursday night with severe downpours, hail and some spot flooding in places.

However, not everywhere will be affected by the thunderstorms as, due to the localised nature of them, some parts of the country will remain dry.

The public are warned to be aware the thunderstorms may cause flooding and disruption in places.

Met Éireann said Thursday will be a warm and sunny day, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 24 degrees in the west but up to 25 to 28 degrees in the east of the country.

As we head into Thursday night, there will be an ongoing risk of heavy showers with lightning.
