Turkish Airlines flight diverted to Shannon after bomb threat

A suspicious item was found on board.

A Turkish Airline flight from Istanbul to Houston was diverted to Shannon airport after a suspicious item was found on board. It’s understood that the crew became aware of the bomb threat after a written note was discovered.

The threat was reported over the Atlantic as flight 34 was forced to dump fuel off Kerry before landing at Shannon. Emergency vehicles are currently on standby while the authorities have been alerted – ambulances from Ennis and Limerick are on site along with the Gardaí.

The flight landed safely at around 11.02am. 227 passengers and crew were on board the Boeing 777-300 jet.
