Great boost to tourism in Laois and Kerry.

Ballyfin House in Laois has been voted as the second best hotel in the world by Travel + Leisure’s 2018 World’s Top 100 Hotels list.

The five-star luxury hotel was pipped to top spot by Indonesia’s Four Seasons Resort Bali. This being said, Ballyfin House registered an incredibly impressive score of 98/100.

Readers of the magazine were asked to vote for their favourite hotel on the following; facilities, location, service, food, and overall value. Properties were classified as city or resort based on their locations and amenities.

In a previous review of the hotel, Forbes said that:  “Ballyfin deftly blends the grandeur of the restored architectural gem with the relaxed and intimate ambience of a country home” while The Telegraph said that “Ballyfin is perhaps the most splendid country house in Ireland.”

Ballyfin also ranks first on on the magazine’s list of Europe’s Top 10 Resort.

Here’s a look at the impressive location.

Elsewhere on this prestigious list, Sheen Falls Lodge, Kerry also managed to make an appearance after it placed 50th after the five-star Relais & Chateaux scored a rating of 95.47/100.

Described as “an unforgettable base for your Irish holiday, providing the ultimate in hospitality” the hotel in the Kingdom is renowned for its picturesque location that overlooks Sheen Falls.

Hard to disagree.

Congratulations to both locations on their impressive achievements.
