Two men arrested following fatal assault in Limerick

Both men are in their 30s.

Gardaí investigating a fatal assault that occurred last week at Parnell Street in Limerick have arrested two men.

An Garda Síochána attended the scene of the assault at around 10.25pm on Friday, 15 April where a man was discovered with serious injuries.

He was taken from the scene to University Hospital Limerick to be treated before he later died.

The man has been named locally as 48-year-old Alan Bourke.

On Friday afternoon (22 April), two men in their 30s were arrested in connection with the fatal assault.

Both are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Roxboro Road Garda station and Henry Street Garda station.

A Garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
