Video: RTE Olympic analyst takes call live on air to sort out Hannah Craig’s canoeing appeal

Ireland is such a small country that when the lads in London need a hand they call the guy on air for RTE doing the analysis. And he takes the call.

This is what the Olympics is all about in Ireland. As Irish canoeist Hannah Craig waited to see if she would qualify for the final, the head of the Irish canoeing team Carl Dunne called into the RTE analyst to see if he had seen grounds for appeal apenalty applied to her.

With time pressing on, Michael Lyster, in the host’s chair, said to go on when Dunne called back and we were privy to a bit of the process of trying to prove what happened.

It all ended well as Craig made the final (though an appeal against her qualification is now pending). Maybe all analysts should be hooked up to the coaches in London?

An innovation for the Sunday Game perhaps?
