Hats off to all involved, they’ve done an incredible job here.

The commemorations of the 1916 Easter Rising are going to be a huge deal in its centenary year and Google have got it off to a fantastic start with an interactive online guide to one of the most important events in Irish history.

Visitors to dublinrising.withgoogle.com are given a tour of all the important locations in Dublin during the rising as Colin Farrell explains what happened at each location during the Rising 100 years ago.

At each location, visitors to the website can see how the area looks today in Google Street View, while also having the option to view photos of how it looked during the rising, with supplementary audio options also available at a number of different locations.

It’s clear that an awful lot of work went into producing the tour and it’s an excellent learning experience for people from Ireland who want to know more about the Rising and people from abroad finding out about it for the first time.
