Wave goodbye to the sunshine…

Thunder and rain look to be in store for Ireland over the coming days as the recent short spell of fine weather comes than end.

Met Eireann have said that Thursday will be a wet and blustery day with some sunny spells.

The forecaster also said: “Some of the showers will be heavy with the risk of an isolated thundery downpour. In the west and north showers may merge into longer spells of rain in the afternoon or evening.”

Top temperatures on Thursday will be between 15-19 degrees while a fresh southeasterly breeze will turn strong and gusty by the afternoon.

Friday will see further scattered showers with some sunny spells. Some showers could turn heavy or prolonged in the north.

Along the south coast it will be cloudier with the risk of outbreaks of rain or drizzle there in the afternoon.

If you’re heading to Croke Park at the weekend, it might be a good idea to bring a sturdy jacket as it looks to be rather unsettled.

Saturday will see further scattered showers with some sunny spells at first but becoming cloudier as showers become more frequent in the west, but it will be quite mild with temperatures between 15 and 19 degrees.

Showers will continue through Saturday night and into Sunday becoming widespread and heavy for a time.
