Weather warning

It’s pretty grim out there.

With every single county in the Republic of Ireland subject to some sort of weather warning as of Monday morning, Met Éireann has issued another warning for 15 counties, effective as of Monday evening.

On Monday morning, a status yellow rainfall warning was issued for all five counties in Connacht, as well as Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.

Heavy rain will lead to accumulations of 25 to 40 mm in these counties, according to Met Éireann, with higher amounts possible in mountainous areas.

The weather warning comes into effect at 7pm on Monday evening and will remain in effect until 7am on Tuesday morning; there is potential for flooding in all affected counties as a result.

The latest warning comes on the back of a status yellow wind warning for Munster, Connacht and Donegal, effective until 4am on Tuesday morning, and a status yellow wind warning for Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan, effective until 9am on Tuesday morning.

The forecast for the rest of the week isn’t great either; best just to sit tight and hope for more favourable conditions from Christmas Eve onwards.
