The weather for this week can be described in two words: “Ah Jasus”

Ah balls.

Met Éireann‘s updated weather forecast doesn’t make for pretty reading today with the country set to hit five or six degrees during the day on Wednesday, and dropping as low as zero to three degrees overnight.

Not only will it be cold, it will also be very windy. A “polar low” is set to see strong low pressure centre winds, gusting from a southwesterly direction and later veering west.

Temperatures on Thursday are set to drop even lower, ranging between minus two and plus three degrees. Ice is expected to form as a result of the cold. Met Éireann has also warned to expect snow over the coming days on hills and mountains.

Beyond the next couple of days the outlook remains “cold” with wintry showers on the west and north facing coasts.
