Weekend weather forecast: Don’t break out the shorts just yet

rainfall warning

Did you enjoy that big, bright, warm circle in the sky those last few days? Well…

According to Met Eireann, while things are slowly turning away from what felt like an eternal winter, the emphasis really is on ‘slowly’.

Today things are going to mostly mild, breeze and cloudy, but will remain mostly dry, with temperatures staying around 10 to 13 degrees. Then tonight the West coast can expect a lot of rain, with temperatures dropping to 6 degrees overnight.

SATURDAY

The east coast will wake up to a damp morning, before getting a bit better and temperatures getting up to a relatively balmy 15 degrees. Then comes the night, and the Atlantic side of the country can expect more rain, and temperatures to drop down to about 4 degrees.

SUNDAY

Guess what, East coast’ers? More morning rain! It will then spread across the entire country, with highs in the day only reaching about 10 degrees, before dropping to as low as 0 degrees that night, with the clear skies bringing back the frosts for Monday morning.

And anyone hoping next week might see a return to the sun will be disappointed, because from Wednesday onwards it looks like we’re going to be back in the depths of “unsettled conditions”. Yep, keep them brollys to hand.
