Irish property developer Johnny Ronan has caused a stir today after signing off his written statement to the banking inquiry with a proverb which has been closely associated with Nazi concentration camps. At the end of his 28-page statement, Ronan wrote: "Arbeit macht frei’ nó, i nGaeilge, ‘Tugann saothar saoirse." The phrase translates to "work sets you free" and was written over camps in Auschwitz-Birkenau, Sachsenhausen and Dachau. https://instagram.com/p/8AxjDaqEVQ/?tagged=auschwitz The phrase in the statement has annoyed a lot of people and is threatening to overshadow his claims about NAMA's practices in the last few years.
