Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R685 at Quillia between 10pm and 10:20pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” a spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tramore Garda Station on 051 391620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”

According to Garda statistics, the young woman’s death is the 29th fatality on Irish roads since the start of the year.

This is just one less than last year during the same period when 30 people died in traffic incidents.

Just last week, a 15-year-old girl was killed in a car crash in Tipperary.
