Eufemiano Fuentes is a name that you might become a lot more familiar with in the coming days thanks to his high profile court case in Madrid.

The controversial doctor has been repeatedly linked to doping in sport, and has been threatening for the last few weeks to name some names and take both big players and clubs down with him.

He finally seems to have made good on those threats today, at least a little bit, as according to Spanish paper El Pais both he and his lawyer Tomás Valdivielso have claimed that Real Madrid still owe the doctor money for “services” provided dating back to possibly around 2006.

Real Madrid have admitted since the claim was made that they do owe the good doctor some money, but that it was simply to do with him providing nutritional information and diet plans for the players, and that they did not receive hands on treatment from him.

This claim was also brought up in French paper Le Monde in 2009, for which Real were awarded damages, so we don’t imagine they’ll be too happy about this being brought up again.

Previously, La Liga side Real Sociedad have also been mentioned as being involved with Fuentes, after the word “RSOC” appeared on some of his log books listed as a client, although nothing substantial has been proven.

Due to the nature of the case, Fuentes is not being tried for doping in sport, as it was not illegal at the time he was active, rather he is being tried for a failure to follow health and safety procedures. If the stories about him carrying bags of blood in a Coca Cola cooler box are true, then they might have something on him alright.
